Trash & Recycling

PLEASE DO NOT SPRAY PAINT YOUR ADDRESS OR NAME ON THE NEW CARTS! 
The carts are the property of the Town of Morningside. Each cart has a serial number on it that has been assigned to each household.  If your carts should come up missing, please call the Morningside Administrative Office.  We have the numbers on record.  You are responsible for the carts and the cost of their replacement.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Administrative Office at 301-736-2301 M-F 8am-5pm.

Morningside Trash Service

The Town of Morningside provides the following services for refuse collection through Burch Trash Company:

Regular Trash Collection – Tuesday and Friday
All trash should be placed curbside no later than 7:00am the morning of collection and there is no limit to the number of bags or cans. 

Recycling – Monday (only) 
Place all recyclables (loose, not bagged) in an approved recycling container and place container at curbside no later than 7:00am the morning of collection and there is no limit to the number of bags or cans.

Bulk Trash – Friday (only) 
Bulk items are limited to 3 items per household per week. Place items on the curb Thursday night after 7:00pm for Friday Service.

Please note: **There are NO Town Trash Services on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.**

Example of Acceptable Items
Freezers, Washers, Dryers, Refrigerators, Hot Water Heaters, Dishwashers, Propane Heaters, window AC Units, household furniture, area rugs rolled, Computers, Mattress and Box Spring (wrapped in plastic) and Push Lawn Mowers (remove the gas tank and drain the oil from lawnmowers).

Yard Waste – Monday (only) 
Yard waste must be placed in paper bags (NO plastic trash bags will be accepted). Limbs cannot exceed 4 feet in length and 3 inches in diameter as well as they must be bundled and tied or put into a trash can. 

UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS
Car Parts, Building, Remodeling & Construction Materials, Hazardous Waste (paint, gasoline cans, oil, etc…) Styrofoam, Roof Shingles Concrete, Dirt or Bricks…
